‘Tis the season for San Diego’s heartwarming tradition – the 15th Annual Gaslamp Quarter Holiday Pet
Parade and Pups in the Pub Party! Returning on Saturday, December 16, 2023, this local favorite is
here to celebrate our four-legged and feathered pals as the Gaslamp Quarter gets all decked out
for a howl-y jolly good time.
This parade is a fur-tastic extravaganza where the pets take center stage! Picture pets of all
shapes and sizes donning their most creative, festive costumes, strutting their fluff, and competing for
fabulous prizes. Expect to see Santa Claus himself, along with a delightful array of holiday pet
costumes and elaborately decorated floats. Our participants are renowned for their over-the-top
creativity, group costume ensembles, and oodles of holiday spirit. This year’s parade promises to be
one for the history “barks”!
Kick off the day at 10:00 AM in the MLK Promenade Park for the vendor expo, a lively marketplace
filled with a wide array of animal shelters & pet vendors offering everything from gourmet pet treats,
stylish accessories, and fabulous outfits to training services and wellness tips. And what’s a holiday celebration without fantastic photo “pup-portunities” and games? Dress up your pets in their holiday best and partake in all of the activities before the parade!
At the registration table, you can enter your pet into the judging contest where our panel of judges
will announce winners for categories like “Best Christmas Spirit,” “Best Matching Costumes,” and the
prestigious “Best in Show.”
At 1 PM, the parade sets off under the iconic Gaslamp Quarter Archway, weaving its way through
the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. With the help of energetic live music and onlookers, this parade
will be sure to turn heads!
And that’s not all, folks! Following the parade, we invite you to join us for the third annual Pups in the
Pub Party, happening from 2 PM to 4 PM. Here, you and your pets can indulge in craft beer, snag
complimentary goody bags, groove to live music, partake in games for both pups and their people,
and much more!
Don’t have a furry companion but still want to watch the festivities? Spectators are more than
welcome to set up a chair, indulge in holiday treats, and watch all the action from the sidewalks of
the Gaslamp. Everyone is encouraged to join San Diego’s cutest holiday parade…The more the
merrier!
