The good
1. Location was great, nothing was more than 10-15 minutes away
2. Beds were comfortable
3. Waffle House was great, staff was very nice and food was good
4. Pool area was nice
5. Good value for the area
Not so good
1. Noisy. Inn is right next to the highway and it seemed like people were going right by your room all night
2. Bathroom is weird. Shower and toilet separate from the sink and can’t close the bathroom door without stepping into the shower.
3. Shower was pretty dirty. Random hair everywhere
4. At the end of our nearly week long stay, asked if they could hold our suitcase because we flew out later that day. We ubered around the city so didn’t have anywhere to put it and they flat out refused. The Marriott up the street actually offered to keep it for us after explaining the situation and we didn’t even stay there. Seems like a basic hotel function for guests.
This is a cool, vintage motel that has added some modern touches. It is well maintained even though it is older. For both of my stays, the rooms were exceptionally clean, beds were comfortable, and I was able to park very close to my room. Also this recent time, I enjoyed the hot tub every night!! Such a relaxing addition to my stay. I’ll definitely be back!
My only con is that both times I unfortunately encountered people smoking and the smell wafted into my open room window or the hot tub area. It was not continuous though.
This hotel is cheaper than all the other hotels in the area, so the price makes it worth staying here.
Comfortable space. I wish the blackout curtains were stronger for the front window, personally too much light coming in the morning, but I brought a sleeping mask so that helped. 2 restaurants on premises, a breakfast diner and Mexican diner in the evening. Would stay here again 🙂
UPDATE: Moved from 4 to 5 stars for responsiveness from management. Also forgot to mention: PET FRIENDLY!!! My two dogs enjoyed their stay as well 🐶
No continental breakfast but 10% off anything at 2 on site restaurants. Nice clean rooms. Cute setting and nice pool and hot tub.. only downside is not microwave in each room only one community one in laundry room.
Rooms are immaculately clean, simple room but very tastefully decorated. Cute little fridge. Cable TV and Roku TV is available.. Soft comfortable beds with extra blankets in room. Great AC!
The Waffle Spot restaurant is a must,so good! Great start to an awesome day in San Diego!
I will definitely 100% stay here again. and again
Also the hair dryer is weak and take long time to dry hair and it could be better
Lobby staff was so friendly and took their time to make sure we knew where our room was, where to park, and everything! 🤩 Definitely a fun place to stay and you can even go down and have a nice breakfast at the restaurant by the lobby!
Clean, affordable, and comfortable! We will be staying here again! 🙌🏨
One thing is that they didn’t have a microwave inside but you can rent one from them.
I’m glad I did my research before I booked this hotel. I would come here again. I saved money by booking off the kings inn website.
Brings back memories from childhood trips with my family. The hotel was vintage and loved the outdoors pool. Highly recommend the hotel when staying in San Diego, it is central to everything.
Doggy bag stations across the property and some grassy patches made it easy as well. All in all no actual complaints, it was a very pleasant stay, and the people we talked to were all friendly.
Shout out to Greg at the front desk who was incredibly helpful and hospitable!
Only downside is bathroom sinks are the size of an actual Shoebox....way too small
Thank you!
Great staff. Only caveat is "large bodied" people will find the bathroom very small.
I mainly stayed in one room while I was there, but periodically had to move to a different room. The one room I stayed in was great. The other rooms were a bit small for me, but I was fine.
The restaurants had good food and gave you large portions.
All in all... I give The Kings Inn a 4.5 out of 5. There's always room for improvement, but are pretty damn close to perfection.
Thanks!!!
