LA JOLLA HALF MARATHON & SHORES 5K
The La Jolla Half Marathon is this Saturday, May 18th. The race begins at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. It traverses a picturesque coastal route along the shoreline, culminating in a demanding ascent to the peak of Torrey Pines State Park. The route then undulates over the mesa of Torrey Pines, descends through the residential area of La Jolla Shores, and concludes at La Jolla Cove. For those who prefer a shorter distance, the 5K course provides downhill terrain and highlights some of the most beautiful sights within the last 3.1 miles of the La Jolla half marathon route. The Kiwanis in association with Ocean Beach Woman’s Club invites you to the 77th Annual Ocean Beach Children’s Kite Carnival this Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., at Robb Field, 2525 Bacon Street, San Diego. This is a Family-Centric Event at No Cost. Create, and embellish your unique kite, with complimentary materials and guidance in kite crafting. Numerous age-based competitions spread out over the day. NAVY’S BAY BRIDGE RUN/WALK
We hope you choose to go the distance and join us at The Navy’s 37th Bay Bridge Run/Walk this Sunday, May 19th starting at 8 am at the Hilton Bayfront 1 Park Blvd. This event is hosted by the Navy Region Southwest Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Program. The event raises funds to support quality-of-life programs for Navy personnel. MWR Quality of Life programs support the 500,000+ members of our San Diego Military Family. MWR provides healthy and affordable fitness and recreation opportunities at each of the five Navy bases in San Diego County. Read more
