HILLCREST CITYFEST STREET FAIR
The city of San Diego will host its annual Hillcrest CityFest on Sunday, August 11, 2024. This highly anticipated summer event will take place on 5th Avenue from 12 pm to 11 pm and will showcase an array of art, music, and food. With live performances from bands, DJs, and various arts and crafts vendors, this festival is expected to draw over 150,000 visitors from San Diego and Southern California. Considered the largest and most impressive art and music festival in the city, Hillcrest CityFest spans almost half a mile and covers 9 city blocks. Read More…
TORO NAGASHI FESTIVAL
The Toro Nagashi Festival takes place this Friday, August 9th, and Saturday, August 10th, from 10 AM to 6 PM at the Japanese Friendship Gardens in Balboa Park. Come and celebrate the tradition of Toro Nagashi by releasing a lantern in remembrance of the departed. Along with over 9 merchant booths, the event will feature diverse performances at the Inamori Pavilion. The lower garden will host food vendors while the upper garden Exhibit Hall will have a beer and sake garden. Read more
STAR OF INDIA FAMILY OVERNIGHT EXPERIENCE
The museum is pleased to announce the highly popular Star of India Family Overnight Experience is back. Families can choose from two opportunities on July 26 and August 9, starting at 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 a.m. the following day. Families who participate will stay aboard the 1863 ship, Star of India, which is docked at the Maritime Museum of San Diego. They will embark on an imaginary voyage by signing up as the “crew” and working with knowledgeable Living History staff to gain an understanding of what life was like for sailors during the Golden Age of Sail. DEL MAR RACING SEASON
The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club 2024 summer racing season will run from Saturday, July 20th through Sunday, September 8th. This Saturday, August 10th, at the Del Mar Fairgrounds is the Del Mar Tacos & Tequila Festival. Guests can indulge in a variety of specialty tequilas, margaritas, and cervezas that perfectly complement the delicious tacos from some of the top taco vendors in the city. Representatives from different brands will be present to provide samples and address any inquiries about their tequilas. More
