7 Best Pizza Joints in San Diego
San Diego is well known for its Mexican food and Micro Brews. Well, guess what? we’ve also got some outstanding Pizza joints. There are so many, so we’ll just start with our 7 Best Pizza Joints in San Diego. So grab a slice of life, fold and insert into your tummy, while washing down with a nice brew.
Pizza Port Breweries
Pizza Port has long been one of our favorites for many reasons. First, there’s the pizza. We love us some “Meet Extreme Meat” pizza. This thin-crusted pizza should be ordered with their signature wholegrain beer crust. Packed with Canadian bacon, pepperoni, meatballs, salami, and sausage this pizza absolutely rocks! Their microbrews are well known here in San Diego and are for sale retail in many local liquor stores and grocery marts. A couple of brews we enjoy. Chronic ale, a delicious amber ale, and Fife Dog IPA. Bottoms up!

Pizza Port needs to interview IN-N-Out on how to hire employees.
Nancy & Gary Hood
On that note, Service can be slow(they get super busy at times) and not accurate about phone orders.
Last 2 times my pizza had onions on it(using cheese from the pit(excess cheese captured while making )), and few of the toppings I did order(mushrooms looked like small torn pieces). I understand supply and delivery issues gong on (2021),but no apology, substitution, or refund offered. I don't know how many more mistakes will drive down my frequency or away for good.
"A" for quality
"C" for effort(down from A then B-)
Didn’t take long to get food. Buzzer didn’t buzz but I heard my name called on speaker.
OK, got it. Party on.
Too bad we don't care & will never return to any location or purchase products...and we are not on vacation. Maybe think about your customers whom you serve and learn what hospitality really is. There are many better places to eat, drink, and spend your money.
Pizzeria Luigi
Luigi Agostini, the owner of Pizzeria Luigi, lived in Varese, Italy just north of Milano. He stayed in Italy until the age of 23. In search of adventure, Luigi traveled from San Francisco to Hawaii and Los Angeles. He eventually settled in San Diego before opening his very first pizzeria in Poway, California in 2002.
At the time, Luigi was a resident of Golden Hill, commuting daily to his suburban pizzeria. After a visit from Guy Fieri and Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins & Dives in the Fall of 2008, Pizzeria Luigi’s business skyrocketed & pizza enthusiasts traveled from near and far for a slice of his signature pizzas. Trust us and definitely try the Mona Lisa pie, Pepperoni, Sausage, Green Peppers, Mushroom, Red Onion, Black Olive *As seen on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

Overall, I cannot recommend Pizzeria Luigi enough!
The floors and surfaces could have been a little cleaner. The place may have been busy before and maybe they were not able to keep up with cleaning.
A side note to cat owners my cat was obsessed with their box 😆
So, my recommendation is to come with an empty stomach, as all their pizza varieties (which they sell by slice too) look delicious.
Great service.. Great friendly staff.. Luigi please open a place in Orange County!!!
I was so happy we ordered a full pizza that they had to cook fresh because I saw them grab slices where the flies were and just put them in the oven to warm up. They also grabbed the rolls that had flies on them and put them in the oven to warm up as well. We…could not eat them. It was so unappetizing.
The pizza was pretty good but after everything, I’m not sure we could comfortably enjoy everything :/
Filippi’s Pizza Grotto
Vincent DePhilippis and Madeleine Manfredi from Nimes France met in New York NY, married in 1925, then settled in Westchester Pennsylvania. They moved to San Diego in 1947 where they opened an Italian market named Cash & Carry Italian foods on India Street in San Diego. 1950 was the beginning of what has become a very successful line of family restaurants that are today known as Filippi’s Pizza Grottos which are owned and operated by original family members of the founders.

Very large portions. Part of a pizza for 2 will go home in a take-out box. They make their own sausages and, I believe, their own mozzarella (don't quote me on this). Food is good.
Filippi's has grown to a chain of restaurants, but this is the original.
I've been back multiple times since to eat pizza and to buy from their store to make my own dinners at home.
Go to Filippi's!
The sauce is just grandma used to make. It's chunky and delicious. Portions are huge. That meatball is the size of a baseball. The proportion of cheese to pasta to sauce in that lasagna was perfect.
Come hungry and plan on bringing home a box or three of leftovers.
On the other hand, they have outdoor sitting and a sign that says see the hostess for a table. But we couldn’t find the hostess outside of the restaurant and other clients were as confused as us. The waiters were passing by in front of us, but completely ignored everyone waiting in front of the restaurant instead of directing us to the hostess. After asking inside we walked a bit further to what seemed to us a different restaurant and found her.
——-
This was one of our favorite restaurants in the area good price and value.
The portions were quite large and we liked the lasagna, I believe they make them in house.
There is a small market you pass through to go into the restaurant that sells imported goodies.
Lefty’s Chicago Pizzeria
The idea for Lefty’s came from the over-abundance of mom-and-pop shops where the owners grew up in Chicago. The ease of ordering a deep dish pie or grabbing a dog, a bag of fries, a beef sandwich, and ALL of the happy feelings that came along with comfort foods. Fortunately, they soon tired of missing those mouth-watering and comforting flavors of Chicago. They began spending hours in their little California kitchens, creating recipes that they force-fed their friends, trying to re-create those pies haunting their taste buds.
They serve local microbrews from Ballast Point, Lagunitas, Bear Republic, Stone Brewing Co, Great Divide Brewing Co., Ten Barrel Brewing, AleSmith Brewing Co., and Thunderhawk Alements.

Hot Dogs, and Beefs. They also have Chicago, Illinois USA memorabilia throughout the restaurant, most of it donated by customers‼️Prices are competitive with most of the other restaurants in San Diego, California USA. Customers can also eat outside of Lefty's. This is a good restaurant for All ages and is Family friendly😊😁
One thing that you may not like is finding a parking
place, but you can always order and pick your food up.
Good Luck and Happy Dining‼️🍀☘️🇺🇸☮️ December 7, 2021. Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day
80th Anniversary...🗽🦅✝️
The only downside is I have to haul my cookies down there. When are you going to open a spot up in North County?
Hoboken Pizza & Beer Joint
Pizza, even just by itself, is always a good pick-me-up. No question. But, pizza and beer? Well, now you’re talking. At Hoboken Pizza & Beer Joint, They’ve taken the authentic flavor of East Coast pies and paired them with renowned San Diego brews for a true feeling of pizza paradise and Beervana. Stop in for a whole pie and a pilsner or just for a slice and a Sculpin. Not only do they serve excellent pies, they also serve pasta, subs, and salads. They also have a superb selection of beer on tap, and if you haven’t experienced a Pabst Blue Ribbon on tap you don’t know what you’re missing.

Luigis in Imperial Beach is great too 👍
Great deal: two slices and good cold beer for 12.50 and the pies are reasonable price.
Had Sicilian style today. So good!
Delightful every time.
Killer Pizza From Mars
Weirder than you’re thinking. Perfect place for all occasions. NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB packages on 8 hi-def screens. Space toys, aliens, black lights, lasers, and video games for the kids. Nice beer selection and award-winning pizza.
Opened in 1977 by brothers Steve and Dave Mizell. With over 75 years of restaurant experience between them, they learned their pizza skills from a prominent Chicago pizza family. Currently, they have two locations Escondido, and Oceanside. “We do what it takes to give every single customer the best pizza possible”.

Great toppings. Great flavor. I also love all the star wars and sci fi toys around the restaurant. I’ll definitely be coming back!
I went to pick up my pizza and was told 4 minutes until it was ready. Easy no big deal. So I went to sit at the bar at the closest stool to the cashier and waited patiently. 30 minutes go by and during those 30 minutes the employee working the front walks by me several times without saying anything. If she forgot about me, she didn't even offer me a beer as if I was a new customer. So finally after seeing another customer walk in and get their pizza quickly I ask about mine. At that point I get a quick "Sorry" and now have my pizza.
You need to either find a new front desk employee or work it yourself to ensure that your customers aren't being forgotten for 30 minutes. I'm a pretty chill dude but this was beyond frustrating.
Bronx Pizza
Many locals and visitors have proclaimed Bronx Pizza as the Best Pizza place in San Diego! Bronx Pizza opened in 1997 and continues to amaze with single slices of pie or the whole pie, and the calzones, oh my. When you arrive at Bronx Pizza it’s easy to imagine you’ve been transported back to the Bronx. The theme is truly New York Bronx and half of the staff sounds like they’re from the Bronx. The pizza is made Neapolitan style, thin-crusted and baked well done, crispy enough to fold in half and enjoy as it should be. They offer up to 18 different kinds of sliced pies for your dining pleasure. You can also have them bake a whole pie for you to dine in, or they’ll box you one to take home.

The only thing I wish they would let you order slice of pizza over the phone when you are placing an order for 2 large pizza. Becuz. Order a slice at the window can be hard. Especially if you are on a food run for your family and kiddos
Very good. Definitely recommend, topping, tastes
The crust is thin and crisp, the sauce is perfect and the price can’t be beat for the quality and size of their pizzas.
Bring cash, they don’t accept cards.
My East Coast friends says it's the closest they've found in San Diego to New York Pizza. When Comic-Con comes to San Diego, East Coast people go there to get their pizza. There's an autographed photo of Stan Lee applauding the pizza.
They only accept cash, so if you don't have any mad money, visit the ATM at the liquor store next-door. Parking is either on the street or in a nearby parking lot.
Service is fast and the crew is kind but has a direct East Coast attitude that I believe only makes the pizza better. My personal favorite is the Whitestone with added pepperoni; I guarantee it tastes just as good leftover as it does fresh.
I tried to call and no one answered so we drove over and it was going to be a 45 minute wait on the sidewalk 🙁
So we went to Pizza Nova.
