Barra Barra Saloon
Barra Barra Saloon is located at the North end of Old Town Historic Park. The ambiance is that of a ranch house in Old Mexico that features authentic reproduction collectibles and Mexican artwork. The patio dining area has two large fire pits and outdoor chandeliers that add warmth and charm.
The menu represents the merging of Mexico with American traditions of the mid-1800s providing an intriguing restaurant experience for guests. Barra Barra is more than a saloon, it is an Old World Mexican dining experience with traditional Mexican fare made from recipes that span generations.
Barra Barra is located within the plaza of Fiesta de Reyes (“celebration of kings”) which is comprised of locally-owned specialty shops, three different restaurants, and a ten-room boutique hotel The Cosmopolitan. Best Mexican Food EVER. We come here every time we’re in San Diego. We make it a point to stop here to eat. It’s so good and when we have guest we bring them here to. Our kids even love it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

One of the best spots in town, hands down. Fantastic food, $7 margaritas, and a great atmosphere. Perfect for a date night or dinner night. Don't forget to stroll around Old Town!

Great outdoor ambiance with a good selection of Margaritas. The Oaxaca mole is outstanding. Rice was bland and I would not recommend. Pork tamale had meat on the outside and you a left with a “masa” roll. Service was very good but need some help on the sides.

Just to be clear, the food was better than OK, the portions were generous, the service was pretty good (friendly, fast and professional) the atmosphere was very pleasant and the prices were reasonable. Normally this would be 4 stars, however since this is located in Old Town where you would expect outrageous tourist trap pricing, small portions of poorly prepared foods, and horrific service I have to say we were all very impressed. We will definitely be back for more.

We like to go here cause it is less crowded than some of other restaurants in the area. During busy times when there are a lot of people this is a good place to unwind with a good beer or margarita. Less touristy and a nice view of main plaza. Food is good also.

Food is the same as all places in all town... Mediocre. don't expect a huge menu; they have ~8 dishes to choose from. Service is good as long as you are seated., why do i say that?.. We brought our dog with us (they accept pets, for that; the reason for giving 3 stars) but, when we left, we forgot our pet's water container... 15 minutes later when we noticed it was missing, we came back and the waitress, who had been so polite and friendly at the begging; was no more., her attitude went from great, to "i don't know you, what do you want". We reminded her of our pet and the table we had been seated at, and that we had forgotten the dog's water container, and she told us she didn't know anything it, and went off inside the building. We waited for a few minutes and she came back with the boy who cleaned the table and went off. The boy told us (with and attitude), that the pet water container was in the trash, that they don't hold any left behind items for any amount of time.. not even 10 minutes!! Wow! I could not believe the attitude and rudeness of the waitress and the cleaning boy, and the establishment policy that they can't hold left behind items at all..... By the way, we left more that $20 dollars on a $108 dollar bill; so, it didn't have anything to do with not giving more than a 15% tip.

The out door dining area is very nice, plenty of shade. My fiance and I did have a nice table outside, our waitress Gabriella was very friendly and helpful in answering our questions about the menu.
Our food was delivered to our table in a timely manner and everything was delicious. Even though it was a Saturday afternoon on we didn't feel rushed to leave after we had finished our meal.
I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great place, Great Food and Great service. Got seated and chips were put down in front of us in seconds, our Great server was there in about a minute. Our three places came in minutes and was fresh and hot. Honestly the best service I have had in a long time!!!

The service was wonderful. I 💓 black beans. This is the first place where that came out as a dip. Neither the salsa or black beans were spicy.
So, don't expect the heat.
Our food arrived hot with no issues. It was absolutely delicious 😋. I would recommend this place.
By the way, the frozen margaritas 🍹 is must.

Originally was planning on another restaurant next door but the wait was too long so we picked Barra Barra. We did not regret the choice even for a minute. Kids absolutely loved the quesodilla and I rarely hear anything positive from my teenagers so this is definitely a big win. I had Indian bread tacos with fish and chicken - that was a really awesome meal. Sangria was good too.

We stopped here since the other restaurant nearby was packed but so glad we did!! The atmosphere is as nice, under greenery and flowers looking out to Old Town San Diego and they have indoor seating options which is a plus over the other one. Chips and guac were awesome and obviously home-made and we shared the steak fajitas and it was packed with flavor!!! Our waitress was friendly and attentive and their outfits for their staff and just so cute!

Barra Barra is a great pick for Mexican Food in Old Town San Diego. It was my first time going and I really enjoyed the food. The Black Beans they bring out with chips and salsa is so good. I have been to a restaurant that served it like that before Pleasant surprise. Prices are reasonable.

If you like meat then this is where you want to be. The beans were also excellent so a bean n cheese burrito is on the agenda for next time in addition to more meat. I had what was basically a meat sampler plate for $20. It lasted me for two more meals so not a bad deal. I took one star off because the service was really slow and they seemed to be under staffed but would not hesitate to go back.

Food and drinks were good but Araceli was the main point here. Service was great and so nice, warm and welcoming. Highly recommend for anybody to come to this place. Specially while she is here. Made my family and I so welcome

Excellent location! Large outdoor dining area and it’s so beautiful! Our waitress was excellent and I wish I remembered her name.The food was really good.The chips and salsa were great and they provide black bean dip with it. I was able to substitute grilled veggies instead of beans and rice. Also, dog friendly.

Limited menu and our server was absent most of the time. We waited about 40 minutes for our check.
