Best Pizza in San Diego

San Diego is well known for its Mexican food and microbrews. Well, guess what? We’ve also got some outstanding Pizza parlors. There are so many, so we’ll start with some of the Best Pizza places in San Diego. So grab a slice of life, fold it, and insert it into your tummy while washing it down with a nice brew.

Pizza Port Breweries

Pizza Port has long been one of our favorites for many reasons. First, there’s the pizza. We love us some “Meet Extreme Meat” pizza. This thin-crusted pizza should be ordered with their signature whole-grain beer crust. Packed with Canadian bacon, pepperoni, meatballs, salami, and sausage, this pizza absolutely rocks! Their microbrews are well known here in San Diego and are for sale retail in many local liquor stores and grocery stores. A couple of brews we enjoy. Chronic Ale, a delicious amber ale, and Fife Dog IPA. Bottoms up!

Pizzeria Luigi

Luigi Agostini, the owner of Pizzeria Luigi, lived in Varese, Italy, just north of Milano.  He stayed in Italy until the age of 23. In search of adventure, Luigi traveled from San Francisco to Hawaii and Los Angeles. He eventually settled in San Diego before opening his very first pizzeria in Poway, California, in 2002.

At the time, Luigi was a resident of Golden Hill, commuting daily to his suburban pizzeria. After a visit from Guy Fieri and Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins & Dives in the Fall of 2008, Pizzeria Luigi’s business skyrocketed & pizza enthusiasts traveled from near and far for a slice of his signature pizzas. Trust us and definitely try the Mona Lisa pie, Pepperoni, Sausage, Green Peppers, Mushroom, Red Onion, Black Olive *As seen on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

Lefty’s Chicago Pizzeria

The idea for Lefty’s came from the over-abundance of mom-and-pop shops where the owners grew up in Chicago. The ease of ordering a deep dish pie or grabbing a dog, a bag of fries, a beef sandwich, and ALL of the happy feelings that came along with comfort foods. Fortunately, they soon tired of missing those mouth-watering and comforting flavors of Chicago.  They began spending hours in their little California kitchens, creating recipes that they force-fed their friends, trying to re-create those pies haunting their taste buds.

They serve local microbrews from Ballast Point, Lagunitas, Bear Republic, Stone Brewing Co, Great Divide Brewing Co., Ten Barrel Brewing, AleSmith Brewing Co., and Thunderhawk Alements.

At Hoboken Pizza & Beer Joint, they’ve taken the authentic flavor of East Coast pies and paired them with renowned San Diego brews for a true feeling of pizza paradise and Beervana.
