Celebrating two significant milestones – the 15th annual Orange County Children’s Book Festival and the premiere sneak preview of the nation’s newest Planetarium.  Over 100 popular authors and illustrators to meet and interact with families of Southern California and the new, highly anticipated, OCC Planetarium will open its doors, for the first time, Sunday, September 30th at the Festival.

ASTRONAUTS COMING TO THE FESTIVAL AND SPEAKING ON THE STEM STAGE

Confirmed space station resident Nicole Stott will share her stories of working 90 days at the space station and present some of her artwork created in outer space. Pending confirmation, other astronauts include Scott Kelly, the world record holder for living in space the longest.  As part of the educational element of the OCCBF, the expanded STEM Stage will be showcasing several exceptional children’s science projects along with a special OCCBF recognition awarded to the children. Additionally, authors of books on science, math and engineering will be presenting on the STEM Stage.

OCCBF HIGHTLIGHTS AND ATTRACTIONS

Authors from around the world and around the corner come to the OCCBF to inspire children and families to read. The OCCBF is Orange County’s premiere free literacy event and is the largest children’s book festival in North America.

The Festival features six fun, interactive, and educational stages with family-friendly entertainment all day!

PRESENTATIONS ON THE OTHER STAGES

On the Illustrator Stage, families learn to draw from former Disney and Nickelodeon illustrators. From the Animal Stage, there are live animal acts, and author presentations from those who write and love animals. For Young Readers to teens, there are author presentations on the Early Reader/Middle Grade/Teen Stage covering a wide range of topics. Little ones find joy at the Storyteller Stage which also features professional puppet and marionette performances. Young singers and dancers draw a crowd to the Entertainment Stage and perform right alongside the professional performers. There is something for everyone!
