World’s Biggest Dinosaurs – Cabazon, CA
From the Interstate Highway 10, the uncommon view of the giant dinosaurs is an irresistible magnet. But tourists are not the only ones compelled to stop. Well within a convenient day-drive of Los Angeles, the Cabazon Dinosaurs are a media spotlight often appearing in commercials, music videos, film and print ads.
These dinosaurs were built over 30 years ago and over 12,000,000 people each year see them from Interstate 10. The site features Dinny the Dinosaur, a 150-ton building shaped like a larger-than-life-sized Apatosaurus, and Mr. Rex, a 100-ton Tyrannosaurus rex structure. Both Dinny and Mr. Rex can be briefly seen in the background of Brad Paisley’s music video Without Love as well as on he cover of his album Notes From The Lost Civilization. Motion pictures such as Revenge of the Cheerleaders, Paris, Texas, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, The Wizard, and Grand Theft Parsons have also featured these unique sculptures.
The site of these dinosaurs includes a museum that features static and moving dinosaurs along with factual information provided by scientists around the world. The desire of this museum is to help the young and old explore what is known and not known about dinosaurs, man and the creation of the world in a practical, factual and fun way. This is a great attraction for people from all walks of life to stop by and see.
