La Jolla Open Aire Market.
The La Jolla Open Aire Market is different than other farmers markets in that all proceeds benefit La Jolla Elementary (LJES), a public school. The proceeds from the market fund various initiatives enjoyed by all children at LJES, including school improvements and programs such as art, music, library, technology, and additional classroom teachers to lower class sizes.
The market was started by former La Jolla Elementary School mom and La Jolla community supporter, Sherry Ahern. In 1996, Sherry had two children enrolled at LJES and was on the Friends of La Jolla Elementary, Inc. Board, the school’s non-profit education foundation. The original motivation for the market was to help fund a library and librarian. At the time, the school’s “library” consisted only of a small collection of books in the back of the auditorium. The State Street Farmers’ Market is a fresh-air grocery store focusing on fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, cheese, eggs, nuts, and honey. And yes, even fresh flowers and plants. There are plenty of artisan food vendors to round out your shopping experience, including bread, granola, yogurt, bone broth, kombucha, fudge, cookies, etc.
State Street Farmers’ Market is proud to keep farmers farming and provide Carlsbad with fresh, high-quality food and products not easily found in traditional grocery stores.
Our market is focused on certified growers and limited packaged foods to allow you to shop for the highest quality and freshest food possible. Think of this as an open-air grocery store where you can find unique products quickly and efficiently. Read more.
Ocean Beach Farmers Market. This year the Ocean Beach MainStreet Association celebrates the 30th Birthday of the Ocean Beach Farmers Market. Enjoy the sights, scents, and tastes that have endured for three decades, inviting the community and visitors alike to “meet me at the market” again and again.
This eclectic open-air market and relaxed feel have made the Ocean Beach Certified Farmers Market located in the heart of Ocean Beach the place to be on Wednesday evenings for decades.
The celebration on the 4900 block of Newport Avenue will include the unveiling of the canvas tote bag with the updated Farmers Market logo, along with an opportunity drawing to win Farmers Market favorites such as fresh flowers, plants, local produce, fresh-baked bread, desserts, kombucha, green juice, honey, hot food, and much more. Stop by the OBMA’s bright yellow information booth located in the middle of the market between 4 pm – 7 pm to receive your free opportunity drawing ticket and see if you’re a winner! While you’re at the information booth, the OBMA team enjoys answering questions about the community and local merchants. Read more.

You’ll find shops and restaurants inspired by 19thcentury pueblo life, an ongoing fiesta of live entertainment, and myriad opportunities for visitors and locals alike. Come taste the essence of life in San Diego during its infancy from 1821 to 1872.
THE COSMOPOLITAN HOTEL AND RESTAURANT
There is no other building in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park that more clearly symbolizes the transition of San Diego from a Mexican pueblo into an American city. The lower floor of The Cosmopolitan was built of adobe by Juan Bandini, a wealthy Californio, in 1827 as a family home. The building has been meticulously restored to its original 1870’s glory. It is once again, home to a boutique hotel and a lively restaurant. Dine outdoors on the orchard patio or indoors in the Grand Sala!
DINING
Casa de Reyes Restaurant is in the very heart of Fiesta De Reyes. Enjoy the thriving garden of exotic succulents and tropicals. With fare tending toward traditional Mexican comfort food, they also have a flair that elevates each dish above the usual Mexican restaurant offerings.
Barra Barra Saloon’s menu is centered on Californio Mex fare with dishes from rich seafood, mouthwatering Mexican barbecues to Indian flatbread tacos. Kids eat free every day of the week with an adult! (10 years old and under)
SHOPPING
Fiesta De Reyes is home to 19 unique specialty shops. From hot sauces, silver jewelry, olive oil, as well as toys, unique garden items, and original artwork. All of the shops in Fiesta de Reyes are locally owned and independently operated.
ENTERTAINMENT
The stage in Fiesta De Reyes provides free daily live musical entertainment. Every weekend Old Town’s favorite mariachi bands and musical acts, as well as beautiful Folklorico dancers make for an unforgettable experience. Check website for the full schedule.
