Breakfast or Brunch in San Diego

“What’s for brunch?” It’s perhaps the most important decision of your weekend and with so many eateries to choose from, it makes this decision a rather challenging one. These days, the Breakfast or Brunch in San Diego offerings are better than ever thanks to some interesting locations vying to serve us French toast and eggs Benedict, Bloodies and Mimosa’s well into Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

We’ve put together a little list that we believe will satisfy everyone’s palate.

One of San Diego’s most scenic locations has got to be San Diego Bay. Fantastic views, gentle breezes all while enjoying brunch on a yacht. There are two excellent cruises to choose from, Hornblower Cruises and Events or Flagship Cruises and Events. These brunch cruises are normally two hours long and offer beautiful vistas of San Diego, Coronado bridge and Coronado Island.

Their buffets leave nothing to the imagination, from your standard fare of an old fashion American breakfast, there is also fresh seafood, carving and made to order omelet stations. Be sure to leave some room for their decadent desert stations that exceed all expectations. Did we mention bottomless mimosa’s?  Be sure to bring along a sweater or jacket it can get chilly on the bay.

If you’re a landlubber and need to keep an even keel while still enjoying the views of water than Poseidon Restaurant is your place. The Poseidon in Del Mar has become a local favorite and a coastal landmark. Known for serving fantastic seafood and locally sourced ingredients while offering a fun and lively ocean front ambiance. Some of the brunch specialties are Poseidon Eggs Benedict that is topped with Norwegian smoked salmon with steamed spinach. Or try their delicious ABC omelet which includes Haas avocado, bacon and Ortega chiles. YUM!

They are located at 1670 Coast Blvd. in Del Mar.

Brunch is served from 9AM – 3PM Saturday and Sunday.

If you’re in central San Diego area try The Broken Yolk on Garnet Avenue in Pacific beach or the Waffle House in Mission Valley. This Broken Yolk is the original and truly one of the best places in San Diego to enjoy Breakfast or Brunch. Our favorite is the South Of The Border section of the menu. Here you can order some very tasty Mexican cuisine. Huevos Rancheros, Machaca, Fiesta Burrito and Baja Breakfast Tacos are a sure-fire way to get you fueled up for the day ahead.

The Waffle Spot at Kings Inn San Diego is home to San Diego’s Best Waffles. The Waffle Spot has been a local favorite in Mission Valley for twenty years. Their family-friendly Diner features a delicious variety of Waffles, Omelets, and Breakfast Classics as well as a great Sandwich Menu for Lunch.

Needless to say, if you have a craving for waffles, this is the place to go. They serve Toasted Pecan, Banana Nut and Double Chip waffles just to name a few. Menu favorites include Their delicious country casserole and Country Fried Steak and Eggs.

The restaurant serves breakfast from 7AM to 2PM daily. The Waffle Spot is located at the King’s Inn in Mission Valley at 1333 Hotel Circle South in Mission Valley.
