The Bowers museum was founded in 1936 by the City of Santa Ana through a bequest from Charles and Ada Bowers. The Bowers Museum has become one of California’s finest and, at 100,000 square feet, one of its largest museums. The Museum’s state-of-the-art facilities are the perfect setting for world-class exhibitions from the greatest museums in the world. The Bowers’ collections is particularly strong in the areas of African, South Pacific, Asian, Native American, pre-Columbian art, and California plein-air paintings.
