Noche Buena: Christmas Eve in Mexico


Christmas in Mexico is intertwined with beloved traditions, from the children’s posada processions to all the joyous festivity and worshipful ceremony of Nochebuena, or Christmas Eve. Celebrate the holidays Mexican-style with this colorful evening of music and dance featuring two of L.A.’s most acclaimed performance ensembles: Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles (BFLA) and Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuéllar. BFLA was founded in 2011 and though young, has worked with Grammy-winning artists such as Lila Downs, Pepe Aguilar and many more.




Chinese Lantern Festival

Nov. 21-Dec.15 ~ 5:30pm-10pm

Experience awe-inspiring lantern displays that tower up to 30 feet high and 85 feet wide … even a 100-yard-long breathtaking Ceramic Chinese Dragon. Gates open from 5:30 p.m.–10:00 p.m. with the last admission at 9:20 p.m.  Fairplex parking is $12. 





Festival of Lights

Nov, 29-Dec.21

USA Today has called the Festival of Lights “The Best Public Lights Display in the Nation,” featuring approximately 4.5 million lights and a dazzling fireworks display. Additionally, the Festival of Lights includes more than 400 animated figures including angels, elves and Dickens carolers, appearances by Santa Claus, the world’s largest man-made mistletoe, horse-drawn carriage rides, elaborately decorated Christmas trees in the lobby, and throughout the hotel and delectable holiday confections.

The Brew Ho Ho! Holiday Ale Fest

Dec. 7 ~12 pm-4pm

The Brew Ho Ho has become an OC favorite in the craft beer community: offering a festive, intimate experience for attendees who are filled with holiday cheer and thirsty for someone of a kind holiday beers! General admission tickets are $55. Must be 21+.


Irvine Railroad Annual Christmas Train

Nov. 29-Dec.23

‘Tis the season for Irvine Park Railroad’s annual Christmas Train. Come with family and friends and take this enchanting night ride through historic Irvine Regional Park to meet Santa Claus. The train will depart from the brightly-lit train station and drop passengers off at the North Pole. Children can share their wish list with Santa and have their photo taken with him too. You may take pictures with your personal camera or you may purchase a photo taken by Irvine Park Railroad. It is open weekdays 4-9 pm, weekends 10 am-9 pm. The cost to ride the train is $20 per person(children under age 2 are free to ride). Parking is $5 per vehicle and free after 5 pm.
