World Famous Balboa Park

Attracting more than 500,000 visitors annually, Balboa Park is home to 15 historic museums, lush green gardens, and the world renowned San Diego Zoo. Spread over 1,200 acres of land, the Park also hosts many performing arts venues including the Tony-award winning Old Globe Theatre.
Be sure to hop on the Balboa Park Miniature Railroad that choo-choos through 4 acres of the park and the 1910 Balboa Park Carousel, one of the few in the world that still offers the brass ring game for everyone on the 5-minute ride. Relax after a full day of tours at Balboa Park After Dark, another exciting summer attraction that features exhibits, lectures, films, and special musical performances once the San Diego sun sets.
There’s no need to leave the park if all the walking around makes you hungry; snack carts and casual cafes to more upscale dining, like the award-winning Prado restaurant, are sporadically located around the park to grab a bite wherever you are! Make sure your last stop is at The Museum Stores of Balboa Park to pick up keepsakes such as unique jewelry, exclusive paintings, gardening tools, and history books. Mass Transit bus route #7.
