Enter A Sea Cave

The steep cliffs of Southern California’s coast contain numerous caves, formed by the continuous work of the sea.  In La Jolla there are La Jolla’s sandstone sea cliffs date back approximately 75 million years, and within its coast there seven sea caves. Only one, Clams Cave, is visible on land at Goldfish Point, and Sunny Jim’s Cave is the only one accessible by land through the Cave Store on Cave Street.
To marvel at the rest you must be on the water, and the best way to explore them is on a kayak.
Many tours are available for kayaking and exploring the sea caves. Expect to get wet and to witness incredible wildlife such as seals, sea lions and dolphins. In addition to spectacular views of Torrey Pines and Mount Soledad, some tours also explore La Jolla’s Underwater Park and/or Ecological Reserve.
