Liszt’s Piano Concerts

When: Friday and Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 2pm

Location: Copley Symphony Hall

Franz Liszt was the first “rock star” solo pianist in classical music history. Jahja Ling leads the San Diego Symphony for an entire program devoted to the piano and orchestral works of Liszt, including an extremely rare chance to hear both Liszt Piano Concertos in one concert. Renowned British-Australian pianist Stephen Hough will perform this feat using the flawless technique and brilliant lyricism he is noted for world-wide.

Escondido Renaissance Faire

When: Saturday and Sunday, 10am-6pm

Location: Felicita Park, Escondido

How much: $8-$27

The Escondido Renaissance Faire takes place this Saturday and Sunday. Walk around Felicita Park and take in good food, fine wines, watch a battle, practice your archery, and participate in a scavenger hunt. A number of vendors will be on site selling unique, vintage merchandise.

 

Friday

Fly in a Biplane

Bernardo Winery Farmers Market

When: 9am-noon

Location: Bernardo Winery, 13330 Paseo Del Verano Norte

How much: Free, Tasting is $8 for 5 tastes

Each and every Friday morning Bernardo Winery hosts Rancho Bernardo’s finest Certified Farmers Market. Collect your fresh produce, and enjoy a crepe or tamale! Their tasting room is open until 5, so sample some wines afterwards.

 

Saturday

Bike the Coast, Taste the Coast

When: 6am-4:30pm

Location: Oceanside Pier, 300 N. The Strand, Oceanside CA 92054

How much: $35-$95 to ride, free to attend

Bike the Coast is a groupof 7 to 100 mile bike rides along the ocean. After the ride, enjoy food, music, drinks, and more entertainment at the Taste the Coast expo.

Diamond is Forever: Neil Diamond Experience

When: 7:30pm

Location: Avo Playhouse

How much: $25

Charismatic showman, David J. Sherry, entertains and performs Neil Diamond’s greatest hits and more, spanning over 4 decades of great music and memories! You’ll “Feel the Neil” as David Sherry and his band play tribute to the great singer-songwriter in an exciting 2 hour show reminiscent of Diamond’s famous Hot August Night and Love at the Greek! concerts. Hornswoggle French Horn Ensemble

When: 2pm

Location: Museum of Making Music

How much: Free, donations are appreciated

Hornswoggle is a 20-member French horn ensemble comprised of an array of musicians from the Coastal Communities Band, San Diego Symphony, La Jolla Symphony, Westwind Brass and U.S. Navy Band Southwest. Conducted by John Lorge and Warren Gref, both members of the San Diego Symphony, the group will perform flashy, stylistic arrangements of music from Beethoven, the movies, and popular songs this Saturday at the Museum of Making Music.

 

Sunday

Fall Back Festival

When: 11am-4pm

Location: Gaslamp Museum at 4th and Island Avenues

How much: Free

Fall Back is The Gaslamp’s  annual children’s street faire held on the first Sunday of November, giving families the chance to experience what life was like “way back when.” Enjoy old-fashioned festivities such as ice cream- and pie-eating contests, and pony and wagon rides, Native American and other folkloric dancers delight audiences of all ages. Children engage in Southwest Indian sand painting, Chinese calligraphy, and a drumming jam session.

Play at Belmont Park

When: 11am-9pm

Location: Belmont Park, 3146 Mission Blvd

How much: Free entry, rides and games at additional cost

Play in Belmont Park this weekend! Their Giant Dipper Roller Coaster is one of only two original oceanfront roller coasters still operating on the west coast. Belmont Park also offers a variety of other fun rides, and arcade, good food, and carnival games. All this, right by the beach!

Hornblower Champagne Brunch Cruise

When: 11am-1pm

Location: 1800 North Harbor Drive

How much: $55.95

San Diego Brunch with a View! The Hornblower Sunday Champagne Brunch Cruise is a favorite for those who love to try different Sunday Brunch around town.
