Steam Engine Museum

Located in a rural area of North County, the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum offers a vision of days gone by that most city dwellers have only read about.  The museum is a nonprofit corporation whose sole purpose is the collect, preserve and display examples of mechanical ingenuity and crafts associated with the early days of the American farm and rural community.  Educational and recreational opportunities abound through exhibits, demonstrations and activities.  Classes are offered in blacksmithing, formfolding (copper sheets), furniture restoration/repair, upholstery, model railroading, weaving, looming and even an intro to gourds.  This old country locale is host to the 9th annual Bluegrass Festival which will be held August 19th-21st.  The museum, open year-round for self-guided tours, is open daily from 10-4:00, and is located at 2040 N. Santa Fe Avenue in the city of Vista.  760-941-1791 www.agsem.com
