Point Loma Lighthouse
At the southern tip of the Point Loma Peninsula in San Diego, you’ll find the Cabrillo National Monument. It commemorates the landing of Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo at San Diego Bay on September 28, 1542. Once you get there, you’ll discover all kinds of cool things: the story of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo and how he became the first European to set foot on what is now the West Coast of the United States. You’ll discover the two miles of Bayside Trail that deliver the endless views. Next, you’ll come across wonderful tide pools abundant with interesting sea life. Last but not least, the coolest discovery of all: the famous Old Point Loma lighthouse.
