Board The Star On The Bay

The Star of India is an ideal excursion for history buffs. The world’s oldest active ship, it is a nautical educational adventure unlike any other.

Docked in San Diego’s marina, this vessel’s maiden voyage took place five days before Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address in 1864. It was once stuck in ice in Alaska, has sailed 21 times around the world and still sails each November manned by a volunteer crew.
An iron-hulled beauty, the Star of India is one of eight historic ships and part of the Maritime Museum of San Diego’s world-renowned collection. The museum’s prestigious reputation stems from its excellence in restoring, maintaining and operating historic vessels.
Step aboard the collection of ships alongside Harbor Drive, explore exhibits and discover living history.  Maritime Museum of San Diego (619) 234-9153. Mass Transit bus route #9, 923 & 992.
