Enjoy Guajome Park
Thing To Do #73
The Rancho Guajome Hacienda depicts a unique example of Anglo-Hispanic architecture built on an original Mexican land grant. Distinguished as a National Historic Landmark for its contribution to our nation’s history, the rambling twenty-room adobe ranch house, built with huge profits from the cattle boom of the 1850′s, bustled in its heyday with extravagant fiestas, lively rodeos, and constant visitors. Since the completion of the restoration process in 1996, many of the rooms have been beautifully appointed with period furnishings, leaving you with a lasting impression of the bygone Rancho days. Open for docent-led tours at posted time. (760-724-4082)
The adjacent Guajome County Park has a little bit of everything that San Diego County offers. A developed 33-site campground offers partial hook ups, a caravan pavilion, shade, and afternoon ocean breezes. Two day-use areas with playgrounds, a basketball court, and lots of green lawn are ideal for picnicking or just relaxing. You’ll enjoy opportunities to hike, bike, picnic, ride horses, fish, and camp. Its mild climate and convenient location make Guajome Park and ideal place to visit year-round.
