Cruise The Boardwalks

boardwalks

San Diego’s Oceanfront Boardwalk is a meandering, wide cement sidewalk that spans about three-and-a-half miles from South Mission Beach to North Pacific Beach. This is where to soak up San Diego’s beach culture. Grab an ice cream cone or a hot latte and sit on the seawall as you take in an eclectic mix of people-watching. You will see everyone from tattooed college kids playing horseshoes in the sand, to multigenerational families picnicking under beach umbrellas.

Bike or skate along the path as you take in the view of surfers catching waves and kids toddling along the shore. Don’t have your own wheels? Rent a beach cruiser or Segway from a rental store, or just stroll past condos for rent and beach-gear-selling vendors. Join in a game of volleyball, walk along the ocean’s shore collecting seashells, or lay out a blanket and simply laze the day away. Locals and visitors gather along the boardwalk each evening to watch the sunset along the ocean’s edge.
