Dozens of famous bands have come from San Diego, including Switchfoot, Unwritten Law, Blink-182, and many more. In their early careers, these groups toured small music venues, with their shows ranging from free to a few bucks. The Casbah in Downtown and Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach are constantly putting on great concerts for the 21+ crowd. Catch a local band performing at one of these venues – and who knows, maybe down the line they’ll become the next big thing.

Cafes are great places for intimate, all-ages concerts. Sip on a latte and listen to local talent at Lestats Coffeehouse in Normal Heights, showcasing everything from singer/songwriters to techno-pop. Or, join the college crowd at UCSD’s Che Café for reggae and punk music. No matter what your age or preferred genre, there is a San Diego concert venue with just the right music for you!

San Diego has a fantastic array of options for dinner and a show. From murder mysteries to concerts on the bay, and Flamenco dancing shows to wedding receptions, you can experience it all in San Diego.

Find authentic Spanish ambiance in the center of the Gaslamp Quarter. At Café Sevilla, there’s no need to rush through dinner to make it to an evening show, you can combine the two and make a night of it. What started as a small Spanish tapas bar in 1987 has since become one of San Diego’s primiere nightlife destinations. Every Friday and Saturday night, Flamenco dancers don their hard sole shoes and perform before a packed house. Enjoy authentic Spanish cuisine while watching cuadro, a group of flamenco performers-including dancers, singers, percussionists and guitarists. (619) 233-5979. www.cafesevilla.com.

Put your head in the clouds and enjoy one of San Diego’s many roof top bars. Sip cocktails and nibble on tasty fare with an unbeatable view. A few of our favorites:

The twenty second floor Altitude Bar situated atop the Gaslamp Marriott on Sixth Avenue offers a glittering skyline with unforgettable views of the ocean and Petco Park. Relax in leather couches, enjoy the fire pit, and cabanas.

The Beach, located at the W Hotel, is where you can beach blanket bingo with the crowd. Life sure is beachy keen when you’re sinking your toes into three tons of heated sand while enjoying breath taking views of downtown San Diego.

The Top of the Hyatt, the West Coast’s tallest waterfront building, offers fabulous views of downtown, Coronado and Point Loma. From 40 floors up, you can look down on all the other rooftop bars.

So raise your favorite beverage and toast the views of San Diego and enjoy!

Welcome to the home of craft brew where there are over two dozen craft breweries operating in San Diego County. Our locally brewed ales and IPAs can hold their own with the Belgian elite crafts and are aiding San Diego County’s rise as a brewing hot spot.

The brewing process begins with a tiny grain of malt from which brew masters produce a variety of fruity, nutty and bold tasting brews across the light and dark color spectrum, reflecting Southern California’s relaxed, anything–goes culture.

For the beer lover in you go to www.sandiegobrewersguild.org for a complete listing of breweries in the county.

Oh….some good news. This is one study we happen to agree with. Published in the European Journal of Epidemiology, the study is an analysis of 16 studies involving more than 200,000 participants. Researchers found that people who drank about a pint of beer a day had a 31 percent reduced risk of heart disease. So there you have it Beer – It’s good for you.

Offering the sweet smells of locally grown grapes across a beautiful landscaped country vineyard, with tasting rooms featuring boutique wines, wonderful gift shops filled with memorable keepsakes, and county-wide events to please wine lovers and aficionados, visitors can enjoy a “taste of San Diego Wine Country”. Some of the great benefits of visiting our local wineries include being owned and managed by local families and farmers, a way to support local farming and an agricultural way of life which often allows you to meet the vintner during your visit. Unique, boutique wines are handcrafted. No huge manufacturing plants, no huge production lines. Beginning with hand harvesting of locally grown grapes, the process is one reminiscent of the fine work of boutique wine makers across the country. With more then 50 wineries in the county, San Diego is one of the fastest growing wine destinations offering numerous tasting rooms across the county. So make sure stop in and have a taste. A great place to start is Orfila Winery in Escondido(760) 738-6500. www.orfila.com, Bernardo Winery in Rancho Bernardo (858) 487-1866 bernardowinery.com and Carruth Cellars Winery On Cedros in SolanaBeach (858) 847-9463 carruthcellars.com

Sidewalk cafes and open air restaurants, jazz clubs, late night dancing, resident artists, distinctive hotels and micro breweries all contribute to the festive spirit of the Gaslamp Quarter. San Diego’s legendary historic district! The Gaslamp Quarter is a 16½ block historical neighborhood in downtown San Diego. The name “Gaslamp Quarter” is a reference to the gas lamps that were common in San Diego in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The area is listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places and includes 94 historic buildings. Its main period of development began in 1867, when Alonzo Horton bought the land in hopes of creating a new city center closer to the bay, and chose 5th Avenue as its main street. The area now boast over 200 restaurants, bars, nightclubs and lounges, and countless boutiques, art galleries and shops. The Gaslamp has definitely established itself both as the playground of hip, eclectic San Diegans and as an elite urban destination. Mass Transit routes # 3, 11, 120. OrangeTrolley line.
