Big Bay Whale Days celebrates the annual Gray whale migration along the San Diego coast.

During the month of January, head down to the Embarcadero to experience Whale Days. A collaborative effort among the San Diego bay front businesses, the event features discounted whale watching and bay cruises, admission specials to waterfront museums, and money saving offers at Embarcadero hotels, restaurants, and retailers for the entire month of January.

The San Diego ‘Whale Festival’ will be held on the Port Pavilion on the Broadway Pier on Saturday, January 21, 2012. The free Whale Festival is a family community event offering a wide variety of interactive and hands on displays to spark the interest and imagination of any child including a walk-through gray whale, live sea creatures, free face painting, a kids art mural coloring project, a festival train ride and a bounce house. Enjoy live music on the “Whale of a stage!”

    • Children’s Sea Life Mural
    • Children’s Face Painting
    • Jump House for Kids
    • Interactive exhibits
    • Live Music on main stage with 3 live bands! James Gibson Band, Nadro John & Jinnah Williams.

Last year, the festival was attended by over 5000 local and visitors. Festival organizers received proclamations from County of San Diego, City of San Diego and the Port of San Diego for the event!

Other specials during Big Bay Whale Days include admission specials to the USS Midway Museum and the Maritime Museum of San Diego. In addition, discounted Big Bay Whale Days cruises will be featured all month at Hornblower Cruises and Flagship Cruises, as well as coupons for select Embarcadero merchants including Anthony’s Fish Grotto and Seaport Village.
