Of all that may pull you to the splendor of the Grand Canyon, nothing is more powerful than Grand Canyon Railway’s fleet of vintage locomotives. As the mighty giant pulls you closer, you’ll discover you’re more than content to watch a remarkable world go by as you tour the countryside from the comforts of your classic train car. Out your window, watch as the terrain changes from high desert to prairie, prairie to pine. It’s a view that’s ever-changing until you come across a view that changes so dramatically, it could very well change you. Welcome to the Grand Canyon.

Grand Canyon Railway made its first journey to the South Rim in 1901, long before Arizona was dubbed the “Grand Canyon State.” With the arrival of the train, people could get to the legendary canyon with ease and comfort. Today, you can travel to Grand Canyon National Park along the same rail line your parents or grandparents did. Select from one of five vintage classes of service which have been lovingly restored. Journey to Grand Canyon National Park aboard Grand Canyon Railway and take a trip not only to America’s most recognized spectacle, but a trip back in time.

Grand Canyon country was a far-off distant land in the late 1800s. Only the most adventurous of explorers could rough the elements to see it with its remote location in northern Arizona, still a territory at the time. But Americans were on the move and going west. American ingenuity was hard at work in the form of the railroads, being built and tying the nation together. The main line west was built from Chicago to Los Angeles and it passed through Williams, Arizona. Grand Canyon Railway made its first journey to the Grand Canyon on September 17, 1901. Notable passengers to ride the Grand Canyon Railway include Theodore Roosevelt, John Muir, William Howard Taft, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Clark Gable, Jimmy Durante, Doris Day, Warren Buffet, and Bill Gates.

Grand Canyon Railway is located at 233 N Grand Canyon Blvd Williams, AZ. To view map CLICK HERE.The train departs Williams at 9:30 a.m. and arrives at Grand Canyon National Park at 11:45 a.m. Spend your day enjoying the Grand Canyon, the train departs Grand Canyon National Park at 3:30 p.m. and arrives back in Williams at 5:45 p.m. If you have any questions visit their website or call (303) 843-8724.

This exhibit, which will present a far more accurate view of this celebrated personality than have the sensationalized media accounts of the past 130 years, is sure to evoke varied emotions among those who view it. Works by contemporary Apache artists will show how they respond to and interpret their shared history and the changing faces of Geronimo.

For more than 70 years, the Desert Botanical Garden has been teaching and inspiring visitors from the local community and around the world, providing research, exhibits and more designed to help us understand, protect and preserve the desert’s natural beauty.

The Desert Botanical Garden is a 140 acres botanical garden located at 1201 N. Galvin Parkway in Phoenix, Arizona United States. Founded by the Arizona Cactus and Native Flora Society in 1937 and established at this site in 1939, the garden now has more than 21,000 plants, in more than 4000 taxa, one-third of which are native to the area, including 139 species which are rare, threatened or endangered. Of special note are the rich collections of agave and cacti, especially the Opuntia sub-family. Plants from less extreme climate conditions are protected under shade houses. It focuses on plants adapted to desert conditions, including an Australian collection, a Baja California collection and a South American collection. Several ecosystems are represented: a mesquite bosque, semi desert grassland, and upland chaparral.

The Desert Botanical Garden has been designated as a Phoenix Point of Pride.

The Desert Botanical Garden is home to several trails and exhibits designed to engage you in the Garden experience and educate you through interactive exhibits. As you pass through the Garden’s entrance, you will find yourself in Ottosen Entry Garden, where you can access many visitor amenities. From Ottosen Entry Garden you can begin your journey through the Garden on the Harriet K. Maxwell Desert Wildflower Loop Trail or the Desert Discovery Loop Trail. The Desert Discovery Loop Trail, which is paved in brick, will connect you to all trails and exhibits throughout the Garden.

Admission is $18 for adults, $10 for students ages 13-18, $8 for kids ages 3 to 12 and kids under the age of 3 are FREE!

The Desert Botanical Garden is located at 1201 N Galvin Pkwy, Phoenix, AZ. Their phone number is (480) 941-1225 and check out their website for more info. View MAP HERE
